I loved that car, I was driving it when I graduated High School in 1969. One night I dicited to see how fast it would go. At 140+ on I-20 between Monroe and Calhoun I dicided it could go faster than I could.
Sorry, I could not get the pic to post.
Top speed: 130 mph (208 km/h)
0-60 mph (0-96 km/h): 6.0 sec
Engine type: V8
Displacement: 400 ci (6,554 cc)
Transmission: 4-speed manual
Max power: 360 bhp (268 kW) @ 5,000 rpm
Max torque: 440 lb ft (596 Nm) @ 3,600 rpm
Weight: 3,197 lb (1,453 kg)
Economy: 10 mpg (3.54 km/I)
Shouldn't an SS427 have 427 ci, not 400?

You know I always though it had a 427, rated at 425 hp. May have pulled the wrong specs.
Quote:
The Impala SS could be identified by "SS" emblems on the rear fenders and trunk lid. The Impala SS became its own series (separate model rather than an option package) for 1964. In 1968, the Impala SS once again became an option package. 1967 and 1968 SS427s got a special domed hood and body emblems, and the 1968 model featured "gills" on the front fenders in front of the wheel opening, possibly to remind people of its Corvette cousin. In 1969, the Impala SS was available only as the Z24 (SS427), coming exclusively with a 427 in³ V8 of 335, 390 or 425 hp. This was the final year for the Impala SS until 1994.

13.5:1 compression The car itself is ugly as hell, but I'd love to drive one today.
