My SWMBO and I just bought an expensive 5L crock with weights and a groove around the top you fill with water so you don't have to skim the junk off of the top every day. We've tried two batches so far from store bought cukes neither one fermented

. I think that the cukes had too much wax on them or something, didn't work at all. Now we're waiting for our home grown cukes to try again. We're hoping that the farmers market might have some before our plants strat producing but I'm afraid it'll be a while.
