Funny, that exact riddle showed up on this forum about a year ago. I remember it was a Sat or Sunday morning. I did get it, but it took a while on paper.

[woops, the riddle was in the thread killa thread, which I think got dumped....]

Since no one else wants to post,
I think that I will make the most
of my chance to make you guys wonder
about a farmer about to make a huge blunder.

A man has a goat, a wolf and a cabbage. He must cross a river in a
boat that will only carry one item at a time. If he leaves the goat
and the cabbage and takes the wolf, the goat will eat the cabbage.
If he leaves the wolf and the goat and takes the cabbage, the wolf
will eat the goat. The same applies once they are on the other side.

How does the man get the items across the river?

Take the goat across. Then take the wolf across, drop it off and take the goat back. Take the cabbage across, then go back and get the goat?

Like this (highlight to see):
Take the goat first,
Then the cabbage,
Bring back the goat,
Take the wolf,
The the goat.

EDIT: Aw crap AZ IPA beat me to it! EDIT Again. And it took me nearly 20 minutes to come up with this!

He may only take one and not three I do see
He must first take the goat leave the wolf with the cabbage
He then returns with no baggage
From there he shall pick up the wolf and return the goat to it's orginal place
And come with the cabbage this isn't a race
Now the cabbage and wolf are together again
The only thing to do now is go get the goat
and bring him back across the moat

Maybe you should answer the damn riddle and not incorporate poetry if you want to beat me.

I should very much like to congratulate you, good sir. That is correct.
