NO Italian in my family that I know of, and I don't care for wine, but I do like Italian food!
Then again, I like MOST kinds of food!

Really? I think most Americans are self centered discourteous jerks. If you dig us though, more power to you.

I just don't have much faith in humanity anymore. Most people I encounter are out for themselves and don't give a damn about anyone enough to even say "thank you" when you hold a door open for them or move over to an open lane so someone can merge onto the highway.

I totally agree! Most Americans have lost any sense of being courteous and friendly. Maybe it's different in other parts of the country, but here in the Midwest, most folks have lost all sense of basic interactive skills the other members of humanity.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy. I've got a great job which I enjoy going to, a great wife, I make and drink my own beer and I play plenty of video games. All of those things bring me great joy. I however don't typically enjoy being around random strangers I meet simply because they don't seem to have any common courtesy.
The things that usually make me want to ask a person why they're such a self centered dick are mostly due to traffic of some sort. Examples would be a pedestrian just walking out in front of your vehicle and expecting you to stop, drivers cutting off several people across three lanes just because they weren't paying attention and are about to miss their exit, people who speed up when you try to pass them simply so you can't pass, etc.

FWIW I know a famous Flute player who travels to Italy on a regular basis and hosts Master Classes for advanced students there. She says it is a beautiful place and the people are wonderful. Maybe the rude Italians are all in the cities? Much like the rude Americans are mostly in the big cities?
