Default American Ale

I'm looking for RECOMMENDATIONS for a good flavored, not so overly hopped ale to brew this weekend.

Yes, I've seearched the recipe database, but I need to narrow down some PROVEN recipes.

Thanks.

Here is an american amber ale recipe by Jamil Untitled I haven't tried it but his recipes always come out well. And he states this one has never come in less than first place in any competition so I guess that's PROVEN! Looks like it will have a firm bitterness and some hoppiness but won't be overly-hopped, depending on your tastes.

I have one that I really liked, a little heavy on the mouthfeel but then again, I like it that way. I have the recipe at home, but I do remember it was I believe 4lbs 2-row, 8oz crystal 80, and 1 - bag of Amber DME. What are those 3 or 4 1/2 lbs??? I forget..

I gave one to my brother who likes only Guiness, O' Haras, Smithwicks and Busch Light. He took a sip and looked at me, then handed me his O' Haras and said, here you finish this crap and I'll drink yours.

Anyway, shoot me a PM if you are that interested in it and I'll list the recipe for you. You can do Partial Mash recipes right?

Thanks for the lead. I looked at the recipe. I don't have 2 of those hops and 1 of the grains. I'll have to re-look at it later and see what I can sub. Thanks again.

I don't know if you're a fan, but the Dead Guy ale clone is a winner. I'm drinking it now. slightly too much of it, in fact but it's pretty good.

Thanks Yooper. I'll take a look at it.

Any "new" news on the camping trip? I was with Revvy and a couple of guys at the Dragonmead in Warren a few weeks ago and he mentioned it.

I've been menaing to contact you, but after I came home on Friday 13th I was off again to Jacksonville, FL 2 days later...I think I'm home for a couple of weeks now and they came and asked me if I could go to Ft Lewis, WA next month...(not my system, someone else's), I told them yes, naturally...

Bill, you are ALWAYS welcome up to the UP whenever you get a chance. I've invited the rest of the gang, too, and they are talking about dates. I have a cottage, nothing fancy, but definitely room for the Michigan Mashers, the SEWAGES, and assorted other friends (like my IL co-horts). Ohiobrewtus etal are also invited. It's an open invitation to HBT'ers, but I sure love the idea of midwesterners taking advantage of it!

Thanks for the invite. I'd prefer to come up when there are a number of brewers there...more people to meet.
