Default Whole hog roasting, question about size.

We are planning a whole hog roast on a horizontal smoker for a brewclub party in a couple of months.

Can someone tell me, roughly how long a 45-55# split whole hog be on the grill? I, personally, don't think our grill will be large enough.

Also, any tips, recipes, thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Lakedawgs

You want to visit bbq-brethren dot com for this one...great forum (think homebrewtalk for BBQ~home built smokers). A quick search there will answer your question. I made a UDS from threads there (moved since and need to make another one ).

Another vote for kenji's process. He's also great if you contact him through the site.

A 45# whole hog not split takes me about 10 hours in my smoker at 225. Hope this helps. If you need any help pm me.
