As long as it is rated for purpose, it is perfectly acceptable. You would want to cut the hole pretty tight, and probably use some silicon sealant on the inside before you push it through. It probably has more protruding into the panel box than a comparable flanged one, also, and won't look quite as finished because the flange hides your work. But if it fits I would go with it.
