Default SSR or Mechanical Relay

Is there a preference to control fermentation freezers? I have a BCS462. Pros/cons of SSR vs mechanical relay, contactor?

I am also going to have a heating pad or lamp for dual temp control. Relating to the question, I would like to use similar electric devices to control both.
thanks

STC-1000 will do both. I'd prefer SSRs but mech relays are OK.

SSRs have a faster cycle rate for PWM use, but can also fail closed. Mechanical should be fine for on/off ferm chamber control.

Since you have BCS 462, why not ask other folks using them?

I've been using 2 SSR's for mine, mainly because I had extra SSR's from building my BCS-460 controlled electric brewery. Yes, SSR's can fail closed, but generally only when run close to their current limits.
