I am interested in building a ferm chamber out of an old college mini fridge. I am looking for suggestions for an affordable temp controller that i can't trust to not burn my house down while I'm not home.
You don't really need the precision of a PID for a ferm chamber, as a thermostat controller is good enough. If you want to be able to heat as well as cool, you need a two stage controller.
Here is one prewired: http://www.etcsupply.com/ranco-etc21...cd9a59a999115e
If you want to wire one yourself in a project box, here is an option: http://www.dwyer-inst.com/Product/Te...riesTSS2/Specs
There may be cheaper options on ebay and the like, also.
STC-1000. About $18 on Amazon. Controls both heat and cooling in one device. About $40 in all and you will be done.http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f170/stc...inners-433985/
Secondary: River Bend Wheat
Kegerator Tap 1: American IPA
Kegerator Tap 2: Red Lager
Kegerator Tap 3: Oatmeal Stout

+2 on the STC-1000.
+3 STC-1000 I've got 2. They work great!
