Default Ghetto Single Tier

so, with much shame I introduce my current abomination. Powered by a toolbox control panel with an SSR for the boil and an omega PID for the HERMS setup this is not a pretty thing. It does work fantastically well. yes the table will support three full kegs - its rated to 1200 pounds of evenly distributed weight. yes I jumped up and down on it.

I will throw up some more photos next brew day.

In all its glory: from left to right - Mash Tun - Brew Kettle - HLT with Herms Coil - almost all the fittings are stainless from bargain fittings - and I must say I love camlocks.

The mash tun before dough in - the silicone tubing creates a nice little whirlpool on top of the grain while the HERMS is going.

and the HERMS coil - its only 3/8 of an inch but it seems to work fine - the flow rate isn't the fastest but I can leave the valves open and not have to worry about channeling or bursting tubing. The coil is a chopped up immersion chiller -

here is a shot of the control box - ugly but it works. this box runs to a spa panel with GFCI - system is running on 30 amps from the breaker up current from the Spa panel.

the temp probe at the Mash return is one from ebay - a watlow RTD - paid $9 plus shipping - its a beast.

so far I have done two batches - on the same day - denny conns wry smile rye pa and Tits up IIPA - the system works very well.

Nice work, I think it looks pretty good! As long it makes beer, who cares what it looks like. How long did the double brew day take? How do you sparge, it looks like you have only one pump?

the double brew day took about 8 hours - I finished up around 1 AM. It would have taken less time had I not spend an hour looking for a second recipe.

I batch sparge - I am putting a sight glass on the Brew kettle this week that will help since my wort stick is stained dark from a stout I did a while back - can't read the markings too well.

yeah only one pump - I have to switch some connections around but its not really a big deal.
