I am building my E-HERMS brewery and a thought just came to me:

Do I want to permanently install my herms coil in my HLT or make it removable?

(I have already decided I am not using compression fittings as I have had a very difficult time getting them on a bent copper tube.)

For all those brewers that have a HERMS setup, is it hard to clean your HLT with a HERMS coil permanently installed? Would you have done things differently if you had another opportunity?

Thanks,
Nick

There's really nothing to clean. It's just water.

Right! And to clean the inside of the HERMS coil, I found that the easiest way to do that is to send my mash out/sparge water through it on the way to the MLT. Then, it's completely flushed out with hot clean water so no sticky wort can dry in it. I then just blow it out so no water sits in there between brewdays. Easy as can be!
