Has anyone fermented anything using Indian Sarsaparilla? The stuff smells sooo good. Or, has anyone made an alcoholic root beer? If so, could you share recipes and ideas?

Last year I made fermented a brown sugar wash with some indian sarsaparilla and anise using a wine yeast. There is no body and it has a slight medicinal tonic flavor but all in all it isn't bad. It is nice in a martini glass as a sipper as it is dry and strong. I'd love to use this stuff again but now would like to be more precise with what I'm doing instead of just throwing stuff into the pot willy nilly.

I don't have any recipes. If you like the aroma of sassafras/sarsaparilla, though, also consider birch roots, which make a very similar tonic.
