Growing a mother.

I purchased 2 bottles GT'S Kombucho. I was going to use it for a starter. Later I noticed later that is was flavored gingerade. Can I use this or should I find no flavor GT's

Well I read an earlier post and there was information on it being tried. So I did and only time will tell.

I don't know the science behind kombucha yet so I'm not sure why people recommend ginger only, or plain KT.

I've been using the dregs from any bottle I drink to add to my growing mother. Seems to be working just fine.

you should be fine, but if it doesn't work, go for the unflavored.

It will most likely work to grow a mother, but it might carry the ginger flavor with it. The flavor will probably fade after you make a couple of batches, but I used an unflavored starter to make sure I could have plain kombucha and flavor it how I wanted...

I am about a week into my first attempt and i did mine with gt gingerade. so far it looks like its working out fine, but ill make a post when its all done.
