Will the kind of yeast I harvest from my home brew be generally the same kind I used for the fermentation? If I used a strain for wheat beer will it be the same? Does the yeast change in any way?

Should be the same. Are you talking about harvesting from the dregs of a bottle or washing the yeast cake after fermentation. Either way the answer is the same but I can't imagine why you would harvest yeast from home brew dregs. Just go buy more yeast.
