Default What is this in my yeast?

About 8 months ago I washed some Wyeast 1056.

I was planning on getting the yeast going with my new stir-plate for a brew day this coming weekend. When I looked at the yeast 2 of the jars had some fuzzy things growing inside of them.

Should I just toss this yeast?

That's a jellyfish- I wouldn't use it.

Seriously, though, I definitely wouldn't use that.

That is mold, throw the while thing out. The yeast itself should also be creamy colored, and looks dark in the pic, which is another indication that it is bad.

BTW, if you are brewing this weekend, just pitch some Safale US-05, it is the same base strain, Chico.

It would be next weekend so i have pluenty of time. The yeast isn't that dark. It just looks that color because it is back lit.
