Default Storing starter for a week in the fridge?

i kicked up a starter last night (wyeast 1388) in preparation for my saturday brewing session. lo and behold, my saturday is being hijacked by another activity that may prevent me from brewing. sunday is a no-go for brewing b/c of super bowl preps

question: my starter has been going for almost 24 hours now, it's just about done. normally i'd cold crash it tonight (friday) and pull it out saturday morning for use. can i just leave it in the fridge for a week and use it next saturday? will this week of cold storage hurt the yeasties?

should i do anything different, like transfer the sludge to an air-tight mason jar instead of the usual erlenmeyer + foil combo?

thanks!

It will be fine in the fridge. When you're ready just decant the beer off the yeast, add some cooled wort to it, swirl & pitch. If you go beyond a couple weeks you probably should make another starter with the decanted yeast. Cheers!!!
