Default Stepping up - Does this look right?

Hey All

I am trying for the first time to step up a starter.

I just made a 1.035 wort at 1 liter. Added yeast and put on stir plate.
After 36 hours or so I will add this to a 2L flask of wort. Do I decant? Pitch it all?

Any steps or advice on stepping up starters would be great!

I would decant it, but I would wait more like 72-96 hours prior to repitching into the 2 liter Erlemyer of fresh wort. You want to be sure that you're yeasties have completed their job and have fallen out of suspension in that first fermentation process.

+1 to the above, wait a little longer if you can help it & decant the starter.

So as far as the waiting goes... I am looking to wait until they drop out of suspension. On a stir plate that is tough to tell.

I made it from some harvested 1056 that I harvested about 9 weeks ago. I had a fair amount. I would say about 1/2" at the bottom of a mason jar. The starter is spinning away now.

I think I will leave it roll from saturday until tuesday (3 days) and then fridge for 12 hours then decant off the liquid and add 2 quarts of starter wort to the flask.

Sound ok?
