I dont do a bucket, but different things work great for blow off. I use jugs with sanitizer solution. This is my small batch area

Primary- Anna's lager Duke fuel Barley wine, Life of Lameness ale
Secondary- West rasheed American Rye Pale Ale
Bottle conditioning- I hate james hoffman its cold outside ale, proud asshole ale

Here is my deluxe blowoff jug. 1-gallon apple juice jug, drilled a 0.5" hole in the cap and put a grommet in it, and then drilled four 1/8" holes around it to let gas out. Shove tube through cap into jug about half-filled with Starsan solution. Advantages are that it is very spill-proof, critter-proof, dust and nasty-proof, easy to move and carry, and takes forever to dry out. I use it for apfelwein and other stuff that I'd tend to just slam into primary and leave for months on end.
