Default repitching yeast from higher to lower gravity

I washed some yeast from a CDA w/ an SG 1.064. I always here that it's best to pitch the yeast from lower SG to higher SG. I was planning on brewing an APA with an SG 1.056, 8 points lower than what the yeast are now used to. What are the implications for repitching yeast from higher to lower starting gravities?

The higher your gravity goes, the more stressed/mutated/dead yeast you'll end up with. With those two gravities, I wouldn't worry a bit. If you're paranoid, or for higher gravities, you can always make a starter with your harvested yeast to get back to a really healthy population.

thanks for the advice! sweet! i'll just go ahead and pitch the harvested yeast and not worry about it.

As I recall, as a general rule you don't want to reuse yeast from 1.060 + brews and or those that were higher IBU, something like 50-60+. However, you are so close to that I think you will have no problems with the re-pitch.
