Pitched a starter with dry yeast - to toss or not to toss?

I rushed things a bit and was all fired up about a yeast starter, only to learn tonight that using a dry yeast to do this is flat out a "no no", as it's actually doing damage.

Should I toss the starter?

Nah, it'll be fine. I don't know so much about it being a "no-no"... more like a waste of time and materials.

Gotcha. Thank you...
