I'm sure many of you know this already, but for those of you who don't;

I know Wyeast says one smack pack is good for 5 gallons of wort below 1.060 . Can you do it yes but I wont . Check Mr. Malty for the same ale at 1.056 even with 5 gallons flat says you need 195 million. When I do a batch I tend to have 1/4 to 1/2 gallon more so even more yeast cells are needed.Wonder why Wyeast would even have the calculator for starters ? I just did the one activator and .5 gallons of wort it says the # of cells is now 16 million per ml roughly three times the amount in the Activator pack directly pitched
