Default Only a little fermentation

So I brewed a smoked porter saturday and pitched wyeast 1272 American ale II Liquid yeast. I've seen a little bit of krausen in the fermenter but not at all what should be there. The yeast packet I used was a little old and it may be a little to cold where I've got my glass carboy stored. I also didn't get a chance to take an of measurement because I left my hydrometer in Eugene which is three hours away. Thoughts?

Fermentation's are always unpredictable. Sometimes it shoots out of the top and sometimes the krausen lingers for 2 weeks. The fact that its fermenting means your yeast was still good. You might of needed a starer depending on the gravity but since you didn't take a reading we will never know.
