Ok to harvest yeast from a fermented unpasteurized cider?

I pitched Nottingham in 3 gallons of really nice fresh, unpasteurized cider about a month ago and will be bottling tonight. This will be my first time harvesting yeast. I just wanted to make sure that it's ok to harvest yeast from a cider that wasn't pasteurized *I presume the Nottingham would have taken over and killed over any wild yeasts?

Also, is it a waste of time to harvest dry yeast?

I wouldn't use the yeast from a cider to brew a batch of beer, but I'm not sure entirely why. I've never harvested or reused yeast from a cider for another cider, in part because I use Nottingham and its relatively inexpensive. But I don't see a problem in doing so.

I never use wine lees to repitch yeast- mostly because it just doesn't taste good. But I think a lower ABV cider would be ok to harvest yeast from- although with the price being about $3 I wouldn't risk it.
