Default my first yeast starter

Planning to do my first one, and a quick (maybe silly) question. I had saved/frozen some of the excess wort from my mash tun, and wonder if I can use that to make a yeast starter? Could I not just boil it up, chill, add the yeast and let it do its thing?

I have the flask, stir plate, and even a bag of dme, but was curious if I could do the starter without using the dme or water.

I would only like to throw out one more piece -- what is the gravity of the wort you are using? Common to use 1.040 but you don't want to use anything super high when going for a starter. I would say < 1.050 at most. If it is, just add some water before you boil to dilute it some.

Once I thaw it out, I will measure. Thanks to both of you for the feedback!
