Default Massive blowout!

Woke up to a huge mess in the closet this morning - krausen all over the floor...along with my stopper and air lock! This is the first time I've used a yeast starter, and I guess I can call that a success. My question is, is the brew going to be alright? I've cleaned the stopper and airlock, replaced them, and fermentation is still going gangbusters. What do ya'll think?

your precious liquid is probably fine with its krausen and vibrant activity.

Haha, I guess I could have gotten a better shot prior to moving it out of the closet...too much panicking! plenty of sludge to go around though! Thanks guys

You may want to think about using a 1" blow off tube inserted directly into the neck of the carboy, no bung...at least for the first couple days of fermentation. I am currently brewing a belgian and the blow off has been ridiculous!

me too and ya know the fermentation took off within 6 hours of pitching the yeast and it never blew thru the blow off hose. Now it is in a 6 gallon bucket but i've had batches still need a blowoff even in a larger bucket.

Dustin, just for future reference, what was your OG, yeast used, pitch/ambient temps?

You're in good company because this was my similar first experience with starters. My brew was perfectly fine after I cleaned everything up so don't worry.
