Brewing today and I made a 1.5L starter. I only need 1.2L for todays brew and am planning on holding back a small amount to culture another starter for next weeks brew.

The question is should I step it up or go straight to the needed amount. I will have about 250ML left after I pitch today and will need about 1.2 L for next week.

You can step up the saved yeast for your next brew as soon as you pour off the amount needed today. There is no great viability loss holding a finished starter in the frig for a couple of weeks.

It will just be a week. I am just wondering if I should add a full 1L wort to the 250ML slurry I will be holding back or do it in stages, say .5L then another .5
