I just added sugar to my primary

Light ale extract kit has been in primary since Saturday. Added sugar tonight to up the abv. Almost immediately yeast was happy. Did I ruin my batch. My goal was to up the abv. Any input?

did you add dry sugar, or did you boil it first?

it should be ok, but no guarantees. it's ok to add some sugar to some recipes, such as belgians, but when you do, make sure to boil it in 1-2 cups water/lb sugar to kill off the nasties
