Default Heated cupboard fermentation

Hi all
I've built an insulated cupboard 3ft high x 2 ft deep x 6ft wide, with an electric heater and a room thermostat inside it to maintain the right temp for fermenting. Every time I check my wash the temp is perfect, I've read in a book that your not meant to ferment in green house or airing cupboard ( cupboard with a boiler and pipes in), I take it's because these could both get too hot and that the way I'm doing it with a sealed bin and air lock if fine, if it's not ok then which is the preferred method in the middle of winter in my shed???
Cheers guys

Whatever works to control the temperature of the fermenting wort works.

The temperature of the fermenting wort will not be the same as the ambient temperature in a closet. Fermentation produces heat. Ambient temperature will need to be adjusted as fermentation activity progresses.

Cheers bud, I realised this as temps rose a little, maybe I'll fit a PID controller and drop the probe in the wort, just glad the cupboards ok, thought I was doing great with that idea!! Thanks

If you tape your probe to the outside of the fermenter with a bit of insulation over the probe you can control the wort temperature pretty closely. There have been experiments done with the probe in the wort and with it on the outside and the temperature difference was under one degree Fahrenheit.
