Is it fine to pull Malt extract from my "recipe" when making a starter?

Might be a stupid question.. Forgive me But I need to make a starter and don't have any extra malt extract. The beer I'm brewing has malt extract in it so can I just "steal" it from that? I'm planning on pitching the whole starter in so I would imagine it wouldn't be an issue...Just not sure if using part of the ME in the starter will end up with a different flavor or fermentation. Thanks all.

With the small amount needed for the starter it shouldn't be a problem.

Agree, but in the future I recommend buying an extra 3 LB bag of DME and popping it into a countertop canister. Hey, you're a brewer. Ya gotta have these things handy.

And maltodextrin, alpha enzyme, and some hop oil can't hurt.
