Default fermentation gonig to long

brewed a black ipa on saturday(11-19) bubbling in airlock started that night and is still going so strong that i had to refill the airlock for the 4th time today(11-23). used wyeast 1056 american ale and temps seem to be what they should be. should i be concerned?

Have you taken a gravity reading? That's the only way to know what's happening to your beer. If fermentation is still going or not. Your airlock isn't a fermentation gauge.

And there's no such thing as "too long" of a fermentation, yeast takes as long as it needs to. They can't read instructions, or calendars, so that means little to them. When they finish eating the sugar is when it's done....Whether it's a few days or a couple weeks.

It's a natural process, it takes as long as it needs to.

Each fermentation is different. Like Revvy says they do not pay attention to the calendar....

Some happen very quickly and others just chug along for a long time.

We can't control the yeasty beasties.
