Farmhouse yeast?

So I am having some problems getting a good grasp of what farmhouse yeast really is. I have been doing some research but cant find much, any advice?

It sounds like a saison yeast with bret

That's what I understand it to be. I think it is usually brett C. I guess this is to make an american style farmhouse saison like the bruery's saison lente for example.

Wyeast makes no mention of bret in their Farmhouse Ale yeast.

I would think it was a french style

farmhouse yeasts are usually blends and originally would have been whatever turned up when they were brewed on the farm. their french saison (an excellent yeast by the way!) does not mention Brett either but it has a very nice brett taste anyway.
