In my experience, brett takes a long time to work in the starter. I'd expect around a week to see enough activity to step up. Brett also likes some acidity, it will help the starter along. Add a little white vinegar to the starter to get the ph down. If you have a ph meter or ph strips, look at getting it down to 3-4. If not, I'd just add a tablespoon to 500ml.
