I've been brewing for a while now and have never seen this in any of my fermenters.The top layer of this beer is a different color,way darker.Is this normal and just something i have not run into yet?

BTW,it smelled fune when i transfered it to secondary.

I've seen stratification like this in a couple of my brews with no ill effects; I think it can be considered normal.

this same thing happened with my Tripel. it settled out just fine and tastes nice.

Ok thanks guys.But now it is getting bigger,now the black is taking up the whole top half of the carboy.I think It's all going to turn black.Weird.

The yeast is settling. Another few days, the whole bottle will be dark, except for the yeast at the bottom.

Looks pretty to me.

that's normal. it's not 'black'. in fact, it's probably only about 5 SRM if you're in style on the recipe.

i'm not sure what your concerned about? the yeast is settling out, this is absolutely normal behavior for most beers. the only thing different is that it's taking longer to do so.

i made a tripel about 7 weeks back, it did exactly this during secondary. at bottling time, it was all settled out.
