Default 1056 in an ESB??

I made a yeast starter for a IIPA a couple weeks back, but since it's AG I don't see myself being able to make it anytime soon. I can do a extract ESB, and since I don't want to dump all that nice yeast can I use that for an ESB? I really don't see why not.

Sure, you could. I'd probably use a more flavorful yeast for an ESB, but if you don't mind a "clean" yeast taste in it, the 1056 would be fine.

That said, you don't have to dump it even if you don't use it. Put it in the fridge, and use it when you brew an American style beer. I have many yeast strains in the fridge in mason jars.

I'll check LHBS for 1098 first. Then I'll proceed.

Do you think I'd get any weird cross flavors if I pitched my IIPA onto the yeast cake from this if I do go with the 1056?

LHBS had 1098. Will use the 1056 for the IIPA whenever I get around to it.

1056 will attenuate much higher than a traditional ESB strain would...good that you changed to 1098 IMO.
