Price: $300.00 Pros: Holds mash temp extremely well. Cons: None that I know of. Recommended? Yes
Comments: This was a morebeer all grain starter kit that included a mash tun and HLT. So, the three hundred is for two 10g rubbermaid coolers. I also had a thermometer installed on the MT to avoid unnecessarily opening it up. It holds temps really well up to at least 90 min, which is as long as I have gone.

Price: $60.00 Pros: Easy to make yourself from parts from Home Depot. Cons: The piece from the toilet that I used does cause stuck sparges, fixing this by installing a false bottom. Also use a 24X24 inch bag to easily remove grains from the Mash tun. Recommended? Yes

Price: $39.00 Pros: Cost and effectiveness Cons: Would prefer a pressure fit lid instead of a screw on lid but that is a very minor "con" Recommended? Yes
Comments: Built my HLT for a total of about $60. Used a SS braid and instructions from HBT. Have used it for about 15 batches and am getting efficiency in the high 70's. I batch sparge and have no desire to fly sparge and am extremely happy with this.

Price: $40.00 Pros: Easy to make mash/lauter tun. Doesn't leak. Cons: Will lose temperature over the hour. Recommended? Yes
Comments: This is a good mash/lauter tun. You have to add water at about 12-14 degrees higher than desired mash temperature because the mash tun does not hold temp over a full hour. That is the main drawback, otherwise it works well, is convenient and easy to make.

Price: $40.00 Pros: Large, relatively inexpensive Cons: Plastic warped a bit inside after first time heating, but still functions, no leaks Recommended? Yes
Comments: I purchased this cooler on sale one weekend at home depot. I've since installed a ball valve and false bottom which all together has been very effective for all grain. Well worth the investment.

Price: $39.96 Pros: Got me started quick and fairly cheaply Cons: Scratches and stains pretty easily Recommended? Yes
Comments: I added a 1/2" stainless fitting to it (It was very easy to install) and have used it for at least 25 batches now. The price is right and the insullation makes it easy to dial in the mash temperature after using it a couple times

Price: $50.00 Pros: It holds temp really well and has the capacity of any brew i am able to bottle comfortably Cons: Cannot do anything but Infusion and decoction mash. Step or reheating is out. Recirculation might be in future with RIMs system with electric heating element Recommended? Yes
Comments: Every one sparging should have one. I have used the 5 gallon version until I went to larger 10 gallon batches

Price: $65.00 Pros: Makes mashing 10+ pounds of grain a breeze! And keeps my pots empty for other things, like strike water. Stays hot FOREVER... not really, but for a damn long time! Cons: BIG! Heavy when full... Recommended? Yes
Comments: I built mine! Check it out! http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/mash-tun-diy-pics-thanks-flyguy-197153/

Price: $60.00 Pros: Allows for a very controlled runoff, allows enough space for high-gravity brews, and there's no leakage at all. Cons: Some assembly required (but not much!) Recommended? Yes
Comments: I got the plans from http://www.homebrewtalk.com/wiki/index.php/Converting_a_cooler_to_a_mash_tun#How_to_make_a_ch eap_10_or_5_gallon_MLT_with_a_Rubbermaid_Cooler. Well worth doing if you're not happy with your current setup.

Price: $110.00 Pros: Nice construction. Cons: Too big for 5 Gal PM but OK for AG Recommended? Yes
Comments: Easy to clean and use.
Should have bought with a SS valve rather than brass.
3+ Qts lost below the valve unless you tilt the bed.
Keeps temps fairly constant once you preheat the MLT.
Probably a little too big for PM 5 Gal Brews, but I wanted to buy once if I am going to go to 5 Gal AG or 10 Gal. PM Brews eventually.

Price: $40.00 Pros: Holds heat well and is easy to clean and modify as needed Cons: Can't be heated unless electrified Recommended? Yes
Comments: Love my new 10 gal rubbermaid. I just put it together using 1/2" fittings and BobbyM's guide. I'm already thinking of building a second one to be used as an E-HLT.

Price: $40.00 Pros: Holds temperature once sealed within 1-2 degrees,
Very easy to clean,
Economical,
large capacity Cons: Was difficult to get and maintain a seal using a weldless kit,
Inside lining buckled a bit when using hot water Recommended? Yes
Comments: This is a great way to go when starting out in all grain brewing. I've made numerous batches using my converted cooler and it is very easy to get one of these up and running. One thing to note, is with a weldless fitting set-up, sometimes the seal is faulty and will produce a small drip leak. I had to seal the area (outside only) with food grade silicone.
I definetly recommend this to all brewers looking for an easy and inexpensive MLT.

Price: $150.00 Pros: keeps temps very good Cons: none yet. Just started using it. Recommended? Yes
Comments: expensive. not the worse thing you can spend money on, and i just bought it ready to go cause i was busy building other stuff, but it is nice. i am worried that it will wear in time and begin to leak, but that is just a worry and i have nothing to back it up with. so far so good!
