The Ziploc Vacuum Freezer System starter kit comes with a hand-operated vacuum pump, and several quart-size vacuum freezer bags.
I tried using this to vacuum seal hops.
It absolutely did not work--a complete waste of four bucks.
The hand pump pulls a decent vacuum inside the bag, but the vacuum only lasts a couple of hours. Completely useless.
I tried using every bag in the kit, with the same results for each.
I ended up buying a FoodSaver and am completely happy with it.

Comments: I have had my original one for about 12 years now and it is finally starting to show some problems. My briother gave me his new one about 5 years ago and it is taking up the load wonderfully.
