The March 809 HS pump is constructed of food grade material, will handle wort at boiling temperature, and take back pressure (flow restriction). The high temperature polysulfil (sometimes called polysulfone) pump housing withstands temperatures to 250 F (121 C). The March 809 uses a magnetic-drive pump, so there is no chance of oil contaminating beer. Don't you hate it when that happens? All parts in contact with the wort are food grade, and do not impart off flavors. This pump can be used for an all-grain system, or used to pump wort through a counterflow or brazed plate heat exchanger.

Pros: It's a march, nuff said
Cons: Pricey and going higher all the time
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I decided gravity needed a little help so I bought a March and all the cam lock fittings to convert my whole sculpture. Total was just a shade over 200 bucks, OUCH. But ya gotta pay to play and that has been my largest expense so far and I am 99% done with a three tier fully equiped brew tower. It has RODI, a pressurized accumulator tan, moveable burners and a dump shelf for the MLT when it is spent. Build pics will follow.

Pros: Easy transfers of hot water and wort.
Cons: None
Recommended? Yes

Comments: My brew rig is probably different than others in that I use one pump to move liquor and wort all around the setup. My pump handles them all with ease. I have been able to stall the pump on occasion, but that is because of my setup and not the pump's fault.

Pros: Perfect pump for this application.
Cons: Not self-priming.

Comments: I added SS quick disconnects to make it even more perfect. Works fantastic - just make sure you have the vertical head to get the flow started and you'll no be disappointed.

Comments: I use this pump to pump wort through my HERMS coil and also to pump from my BK through my plate chiller. Does what it is supposed to do and has never let me down.

Comments: March Pump 1/25

I bought my march pump with a brass head from Homebrewing.Org for $135 upon the recommendation from a poster here (forgot who, sorry!).

It works great and I would definitely recommend it. I haven't tried a plastic or stainless head, but I'm sure those are great too. I wanted the brass because it seemed like the perfect balance between price and durability.

For the $135, it has made my brew days a LOT easier. Be very careful when moving hot liquid and be sure to use silicon tubing and not vinyl if you plan on moving hot temperatures.

I use brass quick disconnects and they work flawlessly.
