Price: $25.00
Pros: Alot of information and tools
Cons: Malt list is very very small
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Once I figured the in's and out's of using the software, I really like it. The only major thing that I don't like is the very small list of malt.

Pros: All in one solution
Cons: It's not the most intuitive software in the world. No mobile version. No web version. No collaborative features (like user submitted databases, etc.) No integration with outside software, such as Google calendar, etc.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I can think of a lot of changes and improvements I would make, but it works.

Price: $20.00
Pros: easy to use, great for formulating recipes
Cons: Takes some time to figure out the options.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Once I figured out my efficiency, I started to brew much better beer using this software. There are a ton of options that I don't even utilize. Plus, the author sends out a nice e-newsletter with helpful tip and other tidbits.

Pros: Great interface! Very flexible and smart.
Cons: Scroll mouse doesn't yet work in all fields/pages.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: This software is great! I'm a new brewer so it's very helpful at hand-holding. But I can see how it'll be my brew-buddy as I grow as a brewer!
I love how you can customize the look and feel. But I especially like the way it does all the tough calculations on the fly as I create a recipe! This has replaced my paper log because it's so much easier to change parameters and edit the specifics and notations of a recipe.
As if that wasn't enough, Dr. Brad even has replied to my questions himself!

Pros: Great in every way so far.
Cons: None

Comments: For the price this is a must have. Hundreds of recipes avaliable. Great for keeping track of brews. No more guessing at how much of this and how much of that you included in an old recipe.

Price: $15.00
Pros: BJCP styles are up to date and when you choose to design a new recipe, all windows of acceptability are easy to see (i.e., OG, IBU, SRM color).
Cons: Some of the descriptions of different malts, hops, and yeast are a little uninformative. You'll need to do research of these on your own to gain a little introspective on what to expect. Even with that said, personal experience is the only thing that truly matters.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I love this program. The ease of use and style guidelines drops about three trial run brews off any new recipe. I never used a program before and just used other recipes that i found and tweaked them to my own. I found all to often that IBUs, color, or OG/FG were out of style. This program calculates all additions of grain, hops and water/batch size to determine estimated OG, IBUs, and color. Most grains are preprogrammed into Beersmith. One of the cool features I liked was the ability to send all ingredients to a shopping list which includes price. You will have to adjust the price of each item according to your LHBS or internet shopping place of choice but I didn't find this difficuly (just tedious). All in all, this is a great program

Price: $20.00
Pros: Has almost every grain and hop imaginable. Very easy to create recipes or find others. Wonderful when trying to figure out efficiency and planning for future batches
Cons: Took a little bit to figure out the batch sparging and the volumes. I was finally able to figure that out but had a few batches that caused some headaches.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I did the sample download of this software and loved it right away. It is great to get a recipe from somewhere and build on it. This software has every grain I've wanted to try and makes it easy to add anything new. I was able to add canned pumpkin for a recipe this Fall and it was incredibly simple to do.

Of all the things people do to try and increase their experience, this is one item I find I can't do without. For anyone going into all grain brewing this is almost a "must have" item. It is less than almost any batch of beer you can do and gives you the format to track, design and save everything you do.

Price: $21.95
Pros: Easy to learn; Ability to change recipes quickly; All-Grain to Extract conversion tool
Cons: Not as many hop varieties; Some grains/extracts are missing
Recommended? Yes

Comments: As a beginner, I have found Beersmith to be invaluable. I am only able to extract brew right now, so the conversion tool is a must, as the recipes I find are usually for all-grain brewing. I like the ability to quickly design my own recipes and compare them to the standards.

I tried Beer Tools Pro and found that the user interface has a steeper learning curve, plus it doesn't do the all-grain/extract conversions. After testing both for a few weeks side-by-side, I bought Beersmith.

The only complaint I have is the lack of certain hops varieties and some of the grains/extracts. Beyond that, I am very happy with it.
