A powerful sanitizer. Reduces spotting, filming and streaking in warm or cold water (not for use in hot water.) This specially formulated liquid sanitizer is for use in the last tank and brewing sanitation. It's odorless, tasteless and is easy on the hands.

Use 1/10th ounce per gallon water for 12.5 ppm sanitizing solution.
This 4 ounce container makes 40 gallons of sanitizing solution.

Diluted iodophor is often used by homebrewers and home wine makers to sanitize equipment and bottles. Its major advantage over other sanitizers is that when used in proper proportions it sublimates directly from solution to gas, and hence leaves no residues. It is also non-toxic to humans and therefore especially suited to food processing applications. It is cheap and effective, but it can leave unattractive orange-brown stains on plastic parts and equipment that it is left in contact with.

The label will advise the appropriate dilution rate, commonly 1:1000 or 1:100. Equipment to be sanitised should be thoroughly clean and left in contact with the solution for around 2-3 minutes.

Price: $5.99
Pros: No foam, no residue. Does what it is supposed to.
Cons: The cap is weak (the top came off as I screwed it back on). It will stain some plastics.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: This product is intended for professional kitchen use for sanitizing, but it gives simple instructions on how to use for the home brewer. It has a slight odor to it, and I'm OK with the smell. It will stain some plastics. Some clear tubing I've used is now an amber color. I have two white plastic bucket primary fermentors, and they haven't been affected by it. Overall, it does what I need it to with out the foam or grain from incomplete dissolving from other sanitizers.

Price: $35.00
Pros: Easy to use, and it was available in bulk.
Cons: Will stain clothing.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Iodophor is super easy to use, no rinse, and is not prohibitively expensive, especially if you buy in bulk. The gallon that I bought has lasted me four years and running.

The product will stain clothing and counters. I have a dark ring where the bottle sits, but I could have been more careful about wiping it down after each use.

Similar products are available at some farm supply stores. Look for a food grade, no-rinse, iodine based sanitizer.

Pros: Great no-rinse sanitizer! What else to say?
Cons: none.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Awesome no-rinse sanitizer, does an amazing job and is not TOO expensive. The prices range depending on the size of the bottle you purchase, the above price is 3.99 for the small bottle. I highly prefer this over the powdered metabisulfite sterilizers.

Cons: can leave off flavors in beer if you dont rinse stuff out good (or at least thats what i have read) i havent had a problem yet!

Comments: havent had any issues. nothing has been infected, so either this stuff does what it should, or i am just the luckiest person alive. i typically only use a 1/2oz per 4 gallons of water.

Comments: Haven't had any problems with this sanitizer so far. I had used bleach previously and I think it affected the flavor of my first batch. So this odorless sanitizer works for me

Pros: works quick & cheap
Cons: stains plastic

Comments: I like the fact that it works real quick, but no instructions on the bottle and it does stain plastic. Still prefer it to using chlorine or bleach because of the speed and no drying required,

National Chemicals, Inc. B-T-F Iodophor Sanitizer
Pros: easy and quick
Cons: some people can be allergic to the stuff & 4 oz. no longer has a squirt top
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Great sanitizer. Especially good for when I sanitize airlock, small funnels (for yeast culturing), corney kegs, and tubing. Takes only a couple of minutes if you use the right concentration (as posted above 1 tbls/5 gal.). The stains I have experience with plastic will go away with time. I've had good luck using it in airlocks as well. If used correctly it is safer than bleach and just about as cheap if you invest in a large bottle.

Pros: needs little contact time to work and you needn't rinse it afterward. Plus, it's cheap.
Cons: Will stain your plastic a bit.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I used one-step and then bleach for my sanitizing in the past. But when I bought a bottle of iodophor, things got a lot easier. It's cheaper than one-step and easier than bleach (no worry about rinsing or long contact times). It's never failed me yet.
