STAR SAN is a blend of phosphoric acid and dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid. This synergistic blend provides a unique killing system that is unaffected by excessive organic soils. STAR SAN is also a selffoaming sanitizer. It can be applied through a foamer to produce self-adhering sanitizing foam for external sanitation. STAR SAN is also an excellent sanitizer for hand application. Sanitizing with STAR SAN on a daily basis will leave equipment in a acid condition that will eliminate water spotting. It is not recommended to use STAR SAN on soft metals because of the acid nature of this product.

Price: $11.99
Pros: Sanitises very well, very quickly
Cons: measurements are for 5 gallons, for example one ounce star san to five gallons of water.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I've used this to sanitise all of my equipment for a while now, and have never had a bad batch due to sanitisation.

Price: $7.99
Pros: easy to use, no rinse
Cons: hard to mix smaller batches less than one gallon
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Mix up a batch of star san and water in a plastic bucket to soak all your brewing equipment, and fill a spray bottle to spray everything down on brew day. Drop something on the floor? Wash off the debris and spray it with star san and you are back to brewing!

Pros: Works great as a sanitizer. Small amounts of excess suds are food safe and beneficial for yeast.
Cons: Container caps break if over-tightened.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Works great as a sanitizer. Even gets the "wet-towel" smell out of laundry! No joke, I found that one by accident.

Pros: long lasting, easy to use
Cons: can't think of any
Recommended? Yes

Comments: For sanitation, once I discovered Star San, I won't use anything else. Its super easy, and lasts a while. For every 2 brew days (usually includes bottling a beer as well), i'll use about 5 gallons or so. I've always got a 5 gallon bucket of this stuff on hand. and a spray bottle.

Price: $11.00
Pros: Cheap, easy as hell to use, easy to store, lasts almost forever, safe
Cons: pshh
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Having this cleanser be a non rinse is one of the biggest advantages. It completely takes out the risk of recontamination by rinsing with tap water.
Some people complain of the bubbles, but really, those bubbles sanitize too, so really you can get away with using even less that way. And with proper storing and ph levels, this stuff can really last you a long, long time

Price: $23.00
Pros: Does not harm the yeast or flavor of the beer, it's non-corrosive, easy to use, powerful concentrate
Cons: none that I've encountered
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I've only been using Star San for a month now, but I swear by it. Makes sanitizing easy! I always have a small bowl of it at my brewing station to dip hands and tools into. And you can reuse it a few times before it loses it's strength.

Price: $15.00
Pros: easy, effective
Cons: none
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Star San is (IMO) the best sanitizer out there! It is easy to mix, use, and it's reusable as long as the pH stays in an acceptable range. It imparts no flavor to your brews and you can rack on top of a still-wet surface. It also does not stain your equipment like other products or leave potentially hazardous gases lingering as others can. In fact, I regularly rack on top of foam. I recommend this product to everyone!

Cons: Foams too much to use with a vinator.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: You haven't used this yet? What are you waiting for? Go get some. It's great.

Price: $32.00
Pros: Very efficient, reusable thus more cost effective.
Cons: Foam can be somewhat bothersome if you're anal about that kind of thing; somewhat overpriced at my LHBS
Recommended? Yes

Comments: So far, no complaints about Star San. Very effective at keeping my equipment ready to rock and roll. Also, love that you can reuse the solution if kept properly. I would recommend putting some solution into a spray bottle for quick sanitizing.

Price: $15.00
Pros: No need to rinse after sanitizing. It takes approximately 30 seconds to sanitize equipment.
Cons: I use a good portion of bleach mix on everything. The Star San can't be mixed with any of the bleach solution.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: There are many times when I need to mix small batches of sanitizing liquid. The Star Sans is great for 2.5 and 5 gallon batches. Anything smaller, you will need a separate measuring container.

Price: $18.00
Pros: Makes brewing process sooo easy for me.... Sanitizes in 30 seconds, doesn't need rinse, easy to prepare in small quantities.
Cons: None.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Sanitizing has always been a pita until i started using this product, so i bought myself 2 bottles just to be sure i will have Star Sun around no matter what.
Doing the math of cost/brew showed that it is actually a very cheap product considering also that it can be stored for a long time and even be reused if PH is still at the correct value.
