I have a lot of kegs and I used to go through a lot of water & PBW to clean them. That was before I found the Keg Cleaner from www.carboycleaner.com.

I used to soak my kegs with hot PBW solution and I would make sure the interior of the dip tub was covered by connecting a picnic tap and pushing some solution through it. This process was a bit tedious as I would wait to soak the kegs, plus I would turn them over to get the top side clean too. My arm is long enough to reach the bottom of the corny keg, but my massive biceps (grin) prevent me from reaching the bottom. I’ve had to ask my skinny son with the 37” arms to scrub the bottoms of my kegs for the stuff that PBW would not remove.

When I saw the Carboy Cleaner info here on the forum, it intrigued me. I don’t use carboys except for Apfelwein, but I have lots of kegs. I then noticed they sell the keg cleaner on the same concept.

I gave the Keg Cleaner a whirl this weekend and I’m impressed at how easy and quick it made the job. I cleaned 4 kegs with a gallon of PBW. It does make me remove the dip tubes, but that is good sanitation practice anyway, so I removed the posts & poppets and put them in individual labeled cups (I use painters tape to number the kegs and cups) to soak and I soaked the dip tubes in wall paper dipping tray to clean.

Using the Keg Cleaner was as easy as pouring a quart of hot PBW in the keg and then inserting the Keg Cleaner in the keg to soak the cleaning pads. The Keg Cleaner attaches to a cordless drill and makes scrubbing the bottom, sides and top of the keg an effortless exercise. I hold the keg down with one hand and use the drill to move the Keg Cleaner pads up and down with the other hand. It only takes a finger to hold the keg in place while using the Keg Cleaner.

I put a quart of PBW in each keg and ran the keg cleaner through each one. Waited a few minutes, and then repeated the process. I then followed with a quick rinse and turned the kegs upside down to drain.

I’m extremely happy with the performance of the keg cleaner and the savings in water & PBW. With PBW as high at 50 cents an ounce, it comes to $2.50 a keg to soak it at the 1 oz. per gallon rate. My savings in PBW alone will quickly cover the cost of the Keg Cleaner. I highly recommend it and give it 5 stars.

Cheers,

Edwort.

Comments: The Carboy Cleaner arrived today (4/18/12). It was just in time as I kegged my beer yesterday and my wife wanted me to clean my carboy and get it out of our kitchen today. It worked like a charm. I added a couple liters of water, some cleaning solution, and then used the Carboy Cleaner. I zipped it up and down a few times and I was done. 30 seconds of work.
