Pros: Quick cooling
Cons: None
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Cooling my wort has always been a hassle due to warm tap water temperatures. I used an immersion cooler, then ran the wort through a cooling coil in an ice water bath. It took forever and had a lot of equipment to clean and sanitize. After buying my Therminator I just hooked it up, turned on the hose and it cooled my wort as fast as my March pump could run. Saves me around an hour per batch. Cleaning isn't that bad when you backwash as soon as you're done. I would recommend a filter on your pickup to avoid getting hop chunks, though. I love this thing!

Pros: works well when you know how to use it
Cons: very sensitive to viscosity and particles.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I ony give it an average rating based on other available chillers available. Multiple test runs cool 10 gallons boiling water in about 15 minutes to 65 degrees. Multipe brew sessions have never yielded such results. My initial brew sessions suggested that the use of a fine hop bag, hop screen, etc are needed to keep EVEN THE SMALLEST hop partices from entering the chiller. Proper cleanup and storage is required to keep it operating properly.

I always do a 30 minute PBW Soak, a quick rinse, then a bake for an hour or so at 450F, then a good rinse, then back to a quick PBW soak while brewing, then a rinse, and then into sanitizer, then onto the equipment and start circulating the wort for the final 15 minutes of the boil to sanitize it even further and to work out any flow problems.

regarding any flow problems you may encounter. I always go from Kettle to pump inlet, pump outlet to 'wort inlet' side of chiller, then out of chiller outlet back into kettle.

If you pull into pump inet from chiller outlet you will notice many air bubbles and reduced chilling efficiency

Price: $199.00
Pros: fast chilling, saves water
Cons: is it ever clean? I can never take it apart...how will I ever know???
Recommended? Yes

Comments: This is great for bagged leaf hops using a double bazooka screen as a prefilter for smaller hops and trub, but it clogs when I use pellets without a hop back as a prefilter. Thus, I still have to keep a giant immersion chiller around for the big hoppy beers.

Pros: Quickly chills wort to pitching temeratures. Compact size, easy to clean.
Cons: Price
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Living in Florida the ground water is not very cool, but the Therminator makes it easy enough to quickly chill your wort without a huge set up and multiple chillers. Cleaning is also very simple just soak it for about 30 minutes in PBW (I always do this at the same time I soak my kettle) then rinse and do a 30 minute soak in StarSan and let dry.

Price: $195.00
Pros: Fastest chiller around. Very small footprint.
Cons: bit more expensive than other chillers
Recommended? Yes

Comments: This thing is FAST. I had to throttle the water flow back a bit or it took the wort down below the target temp. I use a 'scrubbie' on the drain (inside the boil pot) otherwise particulates can be tough to get out of it. The only con I really have is that its a bit pricey compared to other units -however, nothing comes even close to the efficiency of this thing, so its really not fair to compare it by way of price (apples and oranges).
I feed this thing with a pump on both the water and wort sides, I use recirculating icewater for chilling. Its a cinch to sanitize. I'll finish by saying I'm completely satisfied with the purchase.

Pros: Quick and sanitary wort chiller.
Cons: The channels can get blocked easily. A screen is a must.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I never used it without a pump. The wort channels are narrow and prone to plugging if your wort is not screened. I had to blow them out with compressed air when I first tried using it. 12 gallons of boiling wort to pitching temperature in under 10 minutes.

Comments: VERY good chiller. If you're gravity feeding from it, it can be too efficient and cool your wort down to grown-water temp.

Blichmann Therminator
Pros: Chills very quick with less water usage than normal counter flow chillers.
Cons: Harder to clean, but not when cleaned immediately and with the right chemicals. PBW or Oxy-Clean and then Star-San works great. More expensive than other CFC's
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Bought this and have never looked back. Works great with the Blichmann Thrumometer. I highly recommend this product to anyone for a great chiller.
