Price: $40.00
Pros: very simple to use, as with all turkey fryers
Cons: has a auto shut off timer that kicks off ever 15 or 20 mins, as long as you keep an eye on it, its not a problem
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Its a cheap and easy burner with an about 6 gallon stock pot for a kettle. one thing that I had to keep an eye on the auto shut off timer, it wasn't that bad since I was adding hops pretty regimented so I kept an eye on the clock and the boil.

Pros: works well
Cons: timer

Comments: good starting place, the pot is actually a 36Q SS pot, but the burner and stand may be upgraded at a later time

Bayou Classic 30-Qt. Stainless Steel Propane Turkey Fryer Kit #1175
Price: $99.00
Pros: A-OK burner, and a good starter kettle
Cons: Wish the kettle were bigger, and the burner stand doesn't work with keggles
Recommended? Yes

Comments: For the beginning brewer, this is a great kit. Propane regulator is quality, burner is very powerful and effective for 5-gallon full-boil batches. Kettle is high-quality (although thin) Stainless Steel and works like a charm. Thermometer is fine for a backup, but if you're doing All Grain, do yourself a favor and splurge on a digital thermometer. It's worth it.

You can do a full boil just fine in this kettle, you just have to be a little vigilant to prevent boil-overs.

My biggest problem with this kit is, while I love the three-leg stand design, that the stand won't accommodate a Keggle, as it is too small of a diameter. If you were clever and had the ability to weld, you could easily adapt the stand and solve the problem. I just bought a second burner instead.

Even if you switch to a Keggle, the 30qt kettle makes a GREAT HLT.
I still use this kettle + burner whenever I want to do a 5 gallon batch, it heats VERY quickly, it boils VERY vigorously, and is a very nice piece of starter equipment.

Comments: It is good for a beginner. Does a 5 gal. batch in spades. Kind of a pain in the ass to chill, since it retains so much heat.

Price: $37.89

Comments: Not the highest quality burner, but gets the bang for the buck award! Being able to brew in the garage is nice, and it only takes 15-20 minutes to get my wort boiling. The included kettle is just barely big enough for a full boil, but it works. I'd love to someday upgrade to a natural gas burer and a keggle, but until that day this little combo works great.

Bayou Classic 30-Qt. Stainless Steel Propane Turkey Fryer Kit #1175
Pros: Good bang for the buck.
Cons: Bigger is better. 6.5gal boil is pushing it.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Good value for just starting out. Kettle is small, but works if you watch carefully for boil overs.

The thermometer that comes with it has a long probe but didn't seem very accurate at all. Maybe mine was a bad one or in need of serious calibration - but I'd suggest replacing it with a reliable, preferably digital one.

Bayou Classic 30-Qt. Stainless Steel Propane Turkey Fryer Kit #1175
Pros: Price and utility
Cons: not quite big enough for all grain boils
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I have been using such a fryer for about 4 years and it is great. When I was extract brewing it was super! The tall sides were great for hanging strainer bags for steeping malts. When I switched to all grain brews, the 7 gallons of sparge runoff was a bit much for this system so I bought a 9 gallon brew kettle. I now use my fryer as my mash tun and I heat it as needed throughout the mash.

Bayou Classic 30-Qt. Stainless Steel Propane Turkey Fryer Kit #1175
Price: $99.00
Pros: All Stainless Steel & comes with a thermometer
Cons: A little small for anything over 5 gallons
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I have only brewed one batch in this, but so far the only complaint is that it is a little small when starting out with 6 gallons, as I did. I guess 30 qts is to the very brim. As far as performances goes, it worked just fine.
