Wow, interesting article. The only consolation is that with rising prices, more farmers will be inclined to plant hops and barley and stabalize the market.
I wonder if we are reaching market saturation for craft breweries.

I don't know if you all noticed, but the price of everything is rising rapidly. I suspect that homebrew ingredients won't rise as fast as finished beer prices (ignoring things like crop failures), simply because of the massive amounts of energy required to run a brewery. That's not to say we won't have to pay a higher cost per gal of beer in enegy at home...
A barrel of craft brew Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, for example, has about twice the malt and as many as five times the hops of a mass-market brew, like Budweiser or Miller High Life.
