The day after 888 and my stike water is up to 150 already, coffee is ready and MLT is preheating.

It's gonna be a hot day today, but Oktoberfest Ale has got to be brewed!

I was hoping to brew an Oktoberfest as well, but being it is only my third brew I was either going to pick up a brewer's best kit while at home, or was going to look at a recipe and try to make a lauter-tun and try at a partial mash for the first time. Being as I just had my appendix out I am not suppose to be lifting things that are heavy (heavy to me is well over what the heavy they are talking about though). Unfortunately all my brew equipment is up at my apartment so I won't be brewing until Monday after work. Any suggestions on doing a partial mash for the first time? I may not do partial mash because of the surgery and it would be easier and less time consuming to just buy the kit. Input on the choice would be nice. Thanks! Have a good weekend and happy brewing! :mug:

I have a Biere De Garde going for Sunday. I guess I beat a few of you my Oktoberfest has been in primary for 4 weeks now, the Whitelabs Oktoberfest yeast is a slow one so plan on a long primary if you choose that yeast.

Doughed in, now to settle for a 90 minute mash. I have to finish this up this morning as today is the Austin Zealots Summer Picnic. Hmmmm, Beer!

Soon as the office opens at my apartments I will be picking up my grain mill and if everything goes well I will be brewing my 2nd PM tomorrow. I'll be brewing BierMuncher's OktoberFAST Ale.

I made FlyGuy's MLT conversion last week and made my first PM last week. FlyGuy's instructions are great just remember to put the O-Ring on, it does not seal well without it. Everything with my PM went well took me about 4 hours from start to finish. I would recommend having your LHBS crush he grains for you, crushing grains will a rolling pin is no fun.

Brewed last night does that count?

First batch of the year unfortunately. Made my Dirty Blonde receipt. It is happily bubbling along at about 70f, with a nice creamy Krausen.

Brewed my Big Bourbon Barrel Brown last night, planning to have it ready to drink by Christmas (no one in my family likes spiced beers). OG 1.074, with a pint of bourbon and some oak going in to the secondary.

I bought ingredients for a couple of AG batches to brew today, but now I'm feeling kind of lazy - don't know if I will do it or not. If I can get motivated I'm going to do an AG lager and an extract "Rocky's Raccoon Honey Lager", maybe do the other AG middle of next week when I get a chance to drink and bottle some to make room for it.

We are on Sunday! Hubby will make a Fitzpatricks Celtic Stout Using a yeast that we had much success with 5 years ago - the "House Bezerker Yeast" that we have been stepping up this week. It was perfectly adapted to our conditions (warm ferments basically), and was simply stored under wort in our fridge for 5 years. It's alive! It smells good! And the spent step up liquid tastes like beer! :rockin:

I have my heart set on making a perry or cider. I think I want to use an Ale yeast though. Apparently our LHBS has fixings for perry, so I'll check out the prices today. Otherwise Ill be trolling the juice isles at Trader Joes or Whole Foods. Ive always bottled our meads and ciders, but after reading the "We Dont Need No Stinking Beer Gun" thread, I will keg it and bottle later for gifts.

If I have the time, I would like to start a brew on this coming weekend. Maybe on the 8th. I am planning on the O Flannagain's "O Flannagain stout", or EvilTOJ's "McMenamin's Ruby Clone" Both look amazing. I might start off with the O Flannagain Stout because I look a good full bodied stout during the colder months and I'd like this one to get a nice age for me.

Cheers all,
Pat

I brewed yesterday as well.

Red Ale that will have Rasberries placed in it a few days from now.

It was a good day to brew.

I am so far behind on brewing that I have no decent homebrew (except the 8-8-8). Between our vacation to Idaho and my sister's visit I probably won't be brewing for another couple of weeks. I'm seriously considering doing a two-batch day just to get ahead.

ED! I love it when you start these threads.
I'm brewing my Reindeer Fuel Tomorrow...it's going to go onto the yeast cake from BierMunchers Cream ale. IF I have time, I've got an Irish ale I'd like to get going..but if not, I have an extract Kolsch that may get made this week.

Oktoberfest is almost chilled. I'll be pitching yeast and loading a keg of Bavarian Hefe to head to the Zealots picnic. Gonna try out my new KEGLove today.

Doing my first AG this afternoon Beirmuncherrs Cream of Three Crops. I am very excited and scared crapless. Hooray Beer!:mug:

Just finished up a near perfect brew day. Brewed 5 gallons of Jamil's Mild recipe from Brewing Classic Styles. Hit my OG right on and only missed my mash temp by 1 degree. It's in the freezer cooling down to pitching temp.

made another RIS last night while drinking the 08/08/08.

going to make a breakfast stout, a hefeweizen, a SMaSH and a belgian the rest of the weekend with friends.

I want to brew an extreme variation of BeirMuncher's Sterling Gold, but I don't have an open fermenter available until tomorrow night earliest as I'm crash cooling 10 gallons of my GPA - Georgia Pale Ale - right now...

I will be this evening, my House Mild X1, and transferring my Irish Wedding Porter to Carboy, and making a mead, and doing a starter for a metheglin.

I'm definitely considering a double brew day tomorrow because I have the primary space open and the next couple of weekends are already spoken for....

First up will be Ed's Haus Pale Ale and I'm thinking either Roggenbier or dry stout for the second.

Last night I brewed an oatmeal stout. It's already blown off twice today and it's at 67*F. I bottled an amber today, and racked an american wheat to carboy.

I also soaked and scrubbed another case of bottles.

It's been a really busy brew weekend for me.

I'll be brewing tomorrow, I'm just not sure what yet. Probabaly a simple light wheat to finish off the summer with, and either a Northern English Brown or my Pale Ale.

brewing a bud type clone today
7#pils
1#flaked corn
1#flaked rice
.5oz cascade 60min
.5oz cascade 30min
wlp830 german lager

67% eff with 6.2g into fermenter
og is 1.036 hoping to finish @1.008 due to a long and slow mash 2+hrs @150

Just pitched the yeast for Ed's Haus Ale (Wyeast 1056).

One down for today. I'm taking a well-deserved rest and before tackling the dry stout. :rockin:

I rather enjoy double-brew days!

I have a Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale starter going; planning to get a batch of Irish red started Monday after work. Hopefully my last extract batch as I move to all-grain. :mug:

I wanna brew but I'm out of fermenters. :cross:

:off: Ed, did you get your fridge situation all straightened out?

Yep, pulled the dead Amana 10 cu. ft. out of the garage and a brew buddy helped me get my 15 cu ft. Frigidaire out of storage.

It's in place and 10 gallons of Oktoberfest Ale is fermenting nicely at 60 degrees (ambient is 51 degrees) in my garage. These 100+ degree days are killer on fridges & freezers in a hot garage. Those issue will soon be gone when the brewhaus goes live.

brewing the Whipporwill IPA as we speak...

Gonna head to Flagstaff this week for work and will hit up the LBHS there to pick up some stuff for my next AG batch next weekend; using the MLT I built yesterday.

gotta go add some hops!
