Default Whiskey Pecan Infusing

Recently I was at a bar that my buddy runs. We were talking about beer and in the end He gave me some pecans the were used to infuse bourbon. They smell amazing! I want to take these and incorporate them into a beer. I'm obviously thinking a dark beer. But not sure what kind. Anyone ever done this? What beer work best for flavor? Also, has anyone every used an ingredient that has already been used to infuse another alcohol? Thanks in advance..
