Default Whirlfloc after turnoff

Ok so for second time in last 5 brews I forgot to add whirlfloc in last few min of boil.

Today I remembered the whirlfloc during my hopstand at 190-170. I decided to not to risk it and proceeded without the whirlfloc, but was tempted to throw it in during the whirlpooling.

What do you think? Would it have worked at that temp?

I did it and got real clear beer....same time, 180 ish. I whirlpooled after that though. Not sure if the whirlfloc worked but the beer was clear.

Most of my recipes have a 5-min aroma addition, so I put the Whirlfloc half-tab in the 5-min hop baggie before I start the boil. That way if I'm enjoying brewskis the whole time or just distracted, all I have to do is remember to hit my hop additions and I'm good.

I'll have to remember this idea. I usually remember, but I have forgotten it on occasion.

To the OP, I don't think it would hurt anything to add it at the beginning of the whirlpool if you forgot to add it during the boil. I would suggest crushing it up a bit as it might not fully dissolve if you throw the whole tablet in there.
