So... at least one of these are on your list of things to buy, right?

I did that back in 2002. It was my third batch. I dropped a spoon into my Mr Beer fermenter and, without thinking, reached in to get it. Oops. I immediately realized what a stupid thing I'd done.

It was a wheat beer kit and it tasted like ham sandwiches. I kid you not. White bread. Cheap lunch meat ham. Miracle Whip. That's what it tasted like.

Personally I've never had an issue sticking my arm into grab things. I've done it twice. Once to fish out a stir bar, which would be very difficult to fish out with a spoon or tongs. The other was a pair of scissors which I probably could have fished out with a spoon, but just went with reaching in because I was panicking at the time. Now granted, I sanitized my arm all the way up to the middle of my upper arm on both occasions so I wasn't too worried. I was more worried about the scissors causing an infection than my arm, even if it wasn't sanitized.

Ugh. The whole thing is just so distasteful...And now I have that nearly nekkid fat dude's image I'll have to either brain-bleach away or inebriate out of my memory.

Yup. A tragedy all the way 'round...

I am going to say there is not much chance for infection...

arms are pretty tough when it comes to contracting infections and it would take more than a little beer to do it.

I feel you would be wasting your money if shoving an arm in your beer seemed like a good idea.
