Default Vegas Bound, Beer Selection / Availability?

I'm heading to Vegas on monday and i'm wondering where i would be able to track down some beer, and what i should try to track down.

Last time i was in Vegas i was surprised that i didn't see much for beer selection, i had to drive off the strip to a whole foods and that was the best i could do at the time.

Hello, Go to the Haufbrau House, it has some of the best beer you will ever taste.

I like trying what ever seasonal they happen to have at the time, Pretend your german and get a 1 Liter mug, it's the way to go !

Cheers

Vegas is a craft beer desert.
You can also check out the Nevada Homebrewtalk section for ideas: http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f190/

If you are looking for good beer on tap on the strip, The Pub in Monte Carlo has 120ish beers on tap. I recommend hitting it up during happy hour though, otherwise you are paying a premium for that premium beer.

You're wildly wrong, maybe do some research before you make ridiculous claims. The Strip has a limited selection, but like everyone else who lives here, I rarely go there.

We get almost everything California gets, as well as so much from around the country. I rarely go without something I want.

To the OP: check out firkin frog, maybe 2 miles off the strip, with a bottle and tap list to rival anywhere in the country.

+1. We stayed there back in January for the Rugby 7s tourney. Not a bad selection. I remember having something from Firestone Walker and some Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar (I'm currently cold crashing a clone batch of that one).

There's also a little micro (can't recall the name) down on the pedestrian part of Fremont.

Thanks everyone!

I'm there for a week for work on a conference and I wanted to pick some spots out in advance.

Much appreciated.

Todd English P.U.B. on the strip. Pricey, but a good selection of Cask Ales. I had an Arrogant Bastard Cask ale there that was really good.

Wow, sorrryyyy.
How large is Las Vegas? How many breweries?
Portland, where I live, has 53 breweries within the city limits of a city with 1 million.
I have checked out many places in the many times I've visited Las Vegas, and have been underwhelmed. The Firkin Frog was good, but we've got at least half a dozen places that good or better. I would expect more from Las Vegas' beer scene. I hope a local knows more about it than me, because I haven't beer impressed.
Big Dogs sucked, Tenaya Creek was below average, Triple 7 and Chicago Brewing Company are average, Ellis Island was bad, and Hofbrauhaus and Gordon Biersch are average chains. I have yet to check out Banger Brewing, perhaps they're better than Stone and The Bruery? Sin City was underwhelming contract brewed beer, and the Joseph James beer I've had has been average to slightly above average.
To each his own. Enjoy your local beer scene, my opinion, ridiculous as it is, is that it isn't very good at all. Perhaps we should set up a poll for HBT members?
Cheers.
