Undercounter Beverage Center

I have a spot where the former owners of my house had a trash compacter where I want to put a beverage center.
The normal freestanding beverage centers are like $200.00, but the ones desiged as bult-ins with the compressor on the bottom instead of the back start at about $700.00.
I've read that the compressor will have ventilation issues if you put a freestanding into an undercounter location. If I install this one, it will have 1 inch on each side and the top of the beverage center.
If I install a few computer fans in the gaps for ventilation to keep cool air moving behind the unit, do you think this would suffice?
Does anyone have a non-built in installed in a built-in location that can speak to this?
